Warrant Officer (Retired) Peter Waugh, CD

Peter Waugh,  a retired Warrant Officer in the Canadian Air Force and longtime resident of Dartmouth, NS, died unexpectedly at home on May 1, 2017 at the age of 67. Peter was born in Summerside, PEI on April 17, 1950. He is survived by his children; Melanie Waugh (Trevor), Dartmouth and Mathew Gouchie, Dartmouth; brothers, Robert (Lana), Florida; Howard, Wentworth; Harry (Lucy), Ontario; Charles (Lynn), Onslow; Anthony (Karen), Truro; sisters, Jane Makinen (Paul), Salmon River; Beverly Cutten, Bible Hill; Jackie Waugh, Truro. He is predeceased by his parents, James “Harry” Waugh and Rosemary “Molly” Waugh; his sisters, Barbara McLean and Karen Gero. He enlisted in the Canadian Forces in 1970 as a medic and served his country for 27 years. Upon his discharge from active service, he worked as civilian medic at CFB Shearwater and for the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, ultimately retiring in 2011. On March 5, 1977 and April 26, 1991 respectively, he welcomed his two children, Melanie and Mathew, who were the most important part of his life. Peter was a devoted father and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed golf, curling and loved taking in any amateur sporting events he could drive himself to. Tim Hortons stock is likely to take a slight dip in the next few days as he was a regular at many local stores where they knew his order before he even got to the counter. He loved the outdoors and nature in general. Peter had a particular fascination with eagles and made the trek many years down to the Eagle Watch in The Valley to see them in person. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A small service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on May 6th at the Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St in Dartmouth. Sergeant (Retired) Tod Fredrick Foster, CD

Tod Frederick Foster 61, of Halifax passed away at home on Wednesday March 22, 2017. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Todd) Foster. Tod was retired from the Armed forces with 20 years’ service as a medical assistant with the rank of Sergeant. Since retiring he was employed with Arbourstone Nursing Home Enhanced Care, Purcells Cove. Survived by his wife Cherry; son, Paul (Kim), Thunder Bay, Ontario; Veronica (Dan) Parace, Mississauga, Ontario; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Andrew, Murray (Kate), both Vancouver, BC; Rodney (Donna), Simms Settlement; Gary, Stephen, Phillip, all of Glen Haven; sister, Pamela (Lorne), New Glasgow; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive visitors 5-8 p.m. Monday March 27th, Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 28th both in the Ronald A. Colonel (Retired) Brian William Grace, CD, MB, CHB, FRCSC, OSJ

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017. Beloved husband of Janet (nee Apps), father of Andrew (Erika), Richard (Krysta), Carly (Matt) and Cameron (Morgan). Loving Papa to Abby, Charlotte, Stella, Henry and Thomas. A Celebration of Life will take place on April 29th, 2017 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Amherst Island at 2 pm Reception to follow at The Lodge, Amherst Island. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or McMaster Medical Research Dept would be appreciated.
